HOW DOES A CHINESE GUY DESIGN AMERICAN COWBOY BOOTS?

It certainly brought back a lot of memories as I am writing this blog piece. My design years at Frye company was the most fun and the most challenging one. It was the first design job I was hired to be a footwear designer. The challenge was that I had to learn large part of leather footwear knowledge on the spot. At the same time this job provided me the opportunity meeting, knowing and remaining friends with many awesome designers and a mentor-alike design director.

From 2001-2004 certainly was a favorite period of my design career. Mainly it laid the foundation of my interest in leather goods and true craftsmanship continue on today.

Frye is an authentic American leather goods brand specialized in footwear founded in 1863. During the 60’s the brand made boots for celebrities and president. Frye company also introduced Harness boot which inspired by Civil War union solider.
