To design a collection of 6 running silhouettes and 2 new toolings for local India market.
For this 5th running shoe silhouette for Cult.Fit India my design approach is 90’s retro inspired. A no-sew construction is used to omit stitching. I am applying layering to create design interests on the upper, for example, the lateral and medial forefoot mud guard pieces are fused over the toe cap piece. The same applies to the heel counter which the overlay piece is fused on top of a stiffer heel counter material. The V-Man brand logo is cased within quarter area which has its own layering details.
This is the epoxy mockup of this bottom design. This bottom design has a straight forward 2 piece construction, a midsole and an outsole. This midsole is made of PU compound instead of the traditional eva compound in most running. The outsole has two independent piece a forefoot and a rare-foot TPU. This two separate piece TPU outsole design is also to reduce the total weight of the entire shoe.

Due to the high temperature condition in India, I keep the design of this shoe relatively light and quite breathable. For example, there’s no backing require cementing which increases breathability.
The main material is two independent layer of single mesh, the top layer is semi-translucent over the lining layer of Tricot fabric which is both light weight and breathable. For re-enforcements I add several layer of overlay cross the entire shoe with a no-sew construction which reduce overall material footprints and stitching.
This upper design has quite a bit of small underlay trimming pieces throughout the entire upper, such as toe vamp, eye-stay to heel mustache. The tongue itself is constructed with several parts. There is the base microfiber layer, a little foam padding and protective overlay with branding details.
